Davide Rebellin GRAVEL TROPHY
Monaco / Col de Turini
March 23, 2025
In memory of Davide Rebellin
On November 30, 2022, Davide Rebellin lost his life in a tragic road accident while training. During his career, the 2008 Olympic vice-champion wore numerous jerseys, including the pink jersey at the Giro, the yellow jersey at Paris-Nice and the leader’s jersey at the Cycling World Cup.
Monaco – Turini was one of his favorite training stages. Fully connected to the world of cycling and endowed with a forward-looking vision, Davide was already thinking of ending his career soon and turning to GRAVEL.
Since this tragedy, his wife Françoise, friends and fans have had only one idea in mind: to create an event in Davide’s memory.
What a perfect symbolism to turn his favorite training stage, Monaco – Turini, into an annual race to pay tribute to this beloved former cycling champion.
The course
Under the aegis of the Union Cycliste Monégasque, the Davide Rebellin Gravel Trophy will set off on March 23, 2025, on the morning of the start of the 50th Critérium Monégasque.
This support from President Umberto LANGELLOTTI stems from his special bond with Davide Rebellin, who regularly took part in races organized by the Union Cycliste Monégasque, and from the fact that some of the greatest names in cycling live in the Principality and will be joining hundreds of enthusiasts to celebrate the memory of one of their own.
Departing from the Port de la Principauté, participants will take a lap of honor around the Critérium course before setting off on an exceptional route.
Thanks to the versatility of the Gravel, the course will be off the beaten track… A series of small roads, including former military routes, will allow participants to discover unusual panoramas and incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea, all the way to the famous Col de Turini.
Although the Davidé Rebellin Gravel Trophy is not a race, individual timekeeping will be carried out for information purposes.
